  • Mature larvae are approximately 3/8” long. They have brown in the head area, while the other half is whitish in color.
  • Adults are smaller in size and go on to range in between 3/8 to ½” measuring from wingtip to wingtip. There is a buff of gold color with a brownish tinge on their body and wings.

Signs and Damage of infestation

Silky Furrows and Tunnels

As cloth moths dwell on the clothes, so they prepare tunnels and furrows in them. This is how they feel cozy and secure their stay. When they make tunnels and furrows inside the silky clothes, especially in the woolen clothes, these pests stay hidden from the eyesight of the humans. They complete their cycle in these furrows and when they reach adulthood, these pests come out of their hiding places.

Irregular Holes

The wardrobe infested with the cloth moths is full of clothes with holes. Yes, if you have cloth moths in your wardrobe, the clothes will definitely have irregular holes. It is commonly seen in cotton or silky clothes. If you notice any irregular holes in the clothes, then you should be sure that the wardrobe is infested with cloth moths.

Shedding of Furs

In case the wardrobe has fur clothing, then it is normal to have cloth moths in them. Keeping them in the wrong way or without proper preparation can lead to the clothes getting infected. The expensive fur is supposed to get affected sooner. If you have fur in the wardrobe, then you can see the shedding of the furs. Keep an eye out for this fur shedding and if you notice something like that, then there is a high chance for the presence of cloth moths.

Tiny Tubes

As cloth moths tend to stay in the clothes and lay eggs, they prepare tubes to keep their eggs safe. And those clothes infested with the moths are sure to have tiny tubes in them. The pests prepare these tubes by spinning the web of threads around the larvae. These tiny tubes are the larvae casings to protect the babies.

Crusty Deposits

It is rarely the case that the cloth moths only affect the silky and expensive dresses. If the cloth moth infestation grows, then they can extend their reach to the carpets, rugs, drapes, etc. The crusty deposits make the fabric crumble and it can make the cloth look dirty.

Cream-colored Moths Appearing on the surface

With time, as the adults come out of the ruptured larvae casings, the place will get filled with the tiny moths. They come to the surface and are usually of cream color. When you see the moths appearing on the surface, then it is time to bring in the pest control services in Dwarka.

Flying Moths

At the beginning of the infestation, you can see the flying moths around the house.
