Public Relations for Bus Companies

Bus and Transportation Companies often get a bad rap from the public and one which is not deserved, people see the soot come out the back and they are often cut off by buses in traffic. Once I saw a sign, which said; Sorry if I cut you off, I have to maintain my schedule? What on Earth is this about, that is the excuse? Give me a break. And yet in a way they are right. But what can bus companies do to improve their image and community goodwill?

Well for years our company cleaned buses, BusWashGuys.com and we had always noted the cool public service announcements on the sides. You know the ones do not smoke and crime does not pay and such. Well why not take this public relations campaign to a whole new level. Why not have Bus Companies participate in the Neighborhood Business Mobile Watch Programs? You see;

BUS COMPANY: Bus companies working with the city are also under a little bit of pressure to promote the public good. You can use this to your advantage. They often have team meetings with their drivers. This is a good time to have the police community relations officer come in and give a talk. Even if they are reluctant to put the signs on the buses, they can still be a great driving force to the success of you local program. Contact them and ask for their participation.

There needs to be a way for Bus Companies to maintain their strong public image in a way that makes sense. Helping the community take a bite out of crime is one great way to do just that. Lets think outside the box and be innovative and creative with public relations strategies. Consider all this in 2006.
